Declan Rice has withdrawn from England duty, one of five players to pull out of Thomas Tuchel’s squad ahead of the latest UEFA Nations League fixtures.

The Arsenal midfielder, a cornerstone of England’s recent 2026 World Cup run, joins Tino Livramento, Cole Palmer, Kobbie Mainoo and Marcus Rashford on the absentee list. All five have stepped away because of injury issues, according to English newspaper "The Sun".

Rice’s case carries extra weight. The 25-year-old was central to England’s charge to third place at the World Cup, their best finish at the tournament since lifting the trophy in 1966. He started every match last summer except the final group game against Panama, pushing his tally to 80 caps and underlining his status as one of the first names on the team sheet. His current withdrawal, the report says, is linked to load management rather than a single dramatic setback.

Tuchel, though, must now reshape his plans. With Rice, Palmer, Livramento, Mainoo and Rashford all out, England have turned to late reinforcements. James Garner and Morgan Gibbs-White have been called up and will link up with the squad at St George’s Park on Tuesday, stepping into a camp that suddenly looks very different from the one originally announced.
