Richard Kone's Injury Setback in Development Match
Richard Kone’s stop-start season took another worrying twist on Monday as the QPR striker was forced off less than half an hour into a development squad match.
The 23-year-old, last season’s leading scorer at Loftus Road, had been working his way back from an injury suffered against Middlesbrough on 5 September. His appearance against Bolton’s Under-21s was meant to be a step towards a full first-team return.
Instead, it ended with Kone limping out of the game after a heavy challenge, in a match Bolton’s youngsters went on to win 3-1.
Kone has featured only four times for the first team this season and is still searching for his first goal of the campaign. For a striker who carried such a scoring burden last year, every minute on the pitch now feels precious.
The exact nature of his latest setback has not yet been confirmed, leaving QPR waiting – and hoping – that this is a brief interruption rather than another extended spell on the sidelines.
