Randal Kolo Muani Undergoes Successful Surgery on Hand Fracture

Randal Kolo Muani has undergone successful surgery on a fractured hand, Juventus have confirmed, but the striker is expected to be back in training within days.

The French forward picked up the injury during an accidental collision in the 2-0 Serie A win over Atalanta at the Allianz Stadium in Turin on Sunday night. He played his part in a statement victory; by the end of the evening, though, the focus had shifted from the scoreline to the condition of Juventus’ new No 9.

Medical tests revealed a fracture of the proximal phalanx in his hand, an issue serious enough to require immediate surgical intervention. The club moved quickly. On Monday, Kolo Muani went under the knife at the J|medical centre, the facility embedded in Juventus’ Continassa complex, with De Loris Pegoli performing the osteosynthesis procedure.

The outcome was positive. Juventus indicated that the operation went as planned and that the 27-year-old can resume training after just a couple of days, keeping him in contention for Luciano Spalletti during the upcoming international break. No prolonged lay-off, no early-season derailment.

It is an important boost for a player still bedding into life in Turin. Since arriving from Paris Saint-Germain, Kolo Muani has produced one goal and two assists in six competitive appearances for the Bianconeri this season. The numbers hint at a player still finding his rhythm, but also at a forward already involved in key moments.

From looking dejected on the pitch in Frosinone in August to battling through pain against Atalanta, his start in black and white has been anything but quiet.
