Luis Campos Confirms PSG Transfer Window Activity Amid Liverpool Interest in Barcola and Mbaye
PSG’s Transfer Window Still Active, Says Luis Campos
Paris Saint-Germain sports advisor Luis Campos has confirmed the club's transfer dealings are ongoing as the window nears its September 1 deadline. Despite interest from Liverpool in attackers Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, PSG are actively assessing options for both arrivals and departures.
Campos Issues Market Update
Speaking to the media, Campos emphasized that the transfer market remains open, with potential moves still possible. He recalled last year’s late transfer of Gigio Donnarumma to Manchester City on September 2 as an example of how activity can continue until the very end. Campos said, "The transfer window is far from over, it’s still open. Between now and the end, on the arrivals side, if we find a good opportunity, we’ll take it. It’s like that every year."
Liverpool Targets Barcola and Mbaye
Liverpool have shown interest in both Barcola and the young prospect Mbaye, as manager Andoni Iraola looks to add attacking options. Barcola impressed during his breakthrough season in Paris, earning a reputation as one of Europe’s most exciting wide forwards. Meanwhile, 18-year-old Mbaye has caught attention with his rapid progress through PSG’s academy, attracting interest from multiple Premier League clubs aiming to secure long-term attacking talents before the transfer window closes.
Both players were left out of PSG’s squad for their Ligue 1 opener against Rennes, which ended in a 2-2 draw. This followed their absence from the squads for the Trophée des Champions loss to Lens and the UEFA Super Cup win over Aston Villa.
PSG Remain Firm on Their Young Attackers
Despite Liverpool’s ongoing pursuit, PSG show no urgency to sell either Barcola or Mbaye. Manager Luis Enrique values Barcola as a key player, while Mbaye is seen as a significant future asset. When questioned about the duo, Campos remained noncommittal: "You mentioned (Bradley) Barcola and (Ibrahim) Mbaye, we’ll see what happens."
Negotiations with Liverpool continue, with PSG having already rejected an initial offer for Barcola. Another bid is expected, alongside ongoing talks concerning Mbaye. Reports suggest PSG want around €70 million for the Senegalese winger, a price Liverpool are currently unwilling to meet.
What Lies Ahead for PSG
With transfer talks ongoing under Campos’s watch, PSG aim to strengthen their squad while improving early-season form. Barcola’s absence coincided with a defeat to Lens in the French Super Cup and a tough 2-2 Ligue 1 draw against Rennes. Their next league match is scheduled against Lille on August 28.
The club plans to stay active in the transfer market, resisting Liverpool’s attempts to sign Barcola and Mbaye before the window closes on September 1.
