Harry Kane needed just 98 Bundesliga games to crash through the 100-goal barrier. A 49-year-old record gone in the space of a penalty kick and a trademark header, wrapped inside a 7-0 demolition of Union Berlin that sent Bayern Munich back to the top of the table.

Dieter Müller had stood alone since 1977, his 100 goals for Cologne arriving after 129 league matches. Kane has shredded that pace. Since landing in Munich in 2023, the England captain has been scoring at better than a goal a game, arriving at this milestone with the relentlessness of a metronome and the drama of a centre-forward who lives for the big stage.

“So I just want to thank the team, the club, the coach, and the staff – everyone who has helped me achieve this. Let’s keep going like this. Scoring more goals in games is obviously a big step. Of course, there have been many important goals among them. I can only say that I’m enjoying every minute of it. Just like today.”

Records are supposed to be chased over years, not swept aside in a blur of goals. Kane has changed that rhythm. The question now is not how fast he got to 100, but how far he can push the numbers before anyone even gets close again.
