The Premier League is up and running again, but the real scramble is only just beginning. Early results are already twisting the mood in boardrooms, and the chequebooks are still wide open.

More than £2.5bn has been spent across the division this summer. One deal towers over the rest: Morgan Rogers at a staggering £117m, the biggest signing of the window so far. Not far behind, Elliott Anderson has joined Man City for £116m, while Sandro Tonali’s £100m move to Tottenham underlines how aggressively the top clubs are reshaping their midfields.

And yet, the market is far from done. Liverpool are hunting a marquee winger and have been heavily linked with Bradley Barcola. Arsenal are circling the PSG talent as well, setting up a potential late-window tug of war.

Premier League summer 2026 deadline

In England, the summer window opened on Monday 15 June. The deadline lands on Tuesday 1 September, with the market closing at 11pm BST.

There is a two-hour grace period after that 11pm cut-off. Deals must be agreed before the deadline, but clubs can use that extra window to push paperwork over the line.

Scotland’s summer 2026 window

Scotland is running on a slightly different timetable. The window also opened on 15 June, but clubs north of the border can trade until 3 September.

The Scottish deadline is 5pm BST, two days after the Premier League shuts up shop. Those extra 48 hours could tempt late moves for players squeezed out in England.

WSL summer 2026 window

The Women’s Super League operates on its own schedule again this year. The WSL summer window opened on Tuesday 16 June and runs until Thursday 3 September.

Clubs have until 11pm BST on that final day to finalise their business, matching the late-night drama of the men’s deadline.

Transfer deadlines across Europe

On the continent, the closing times are just as tight but not identical.

• LaLiga clubs must complete their business by 10.59pm on 1 September.
• In Germany, the Bundesliga shuts earlier, with a 7pm deadline on 31 August.
• Serie A sides have until 1 September as well, but with an 8pm cut-off.

Those staggered finishes often trigger a final flurry of cross-border deals as clubs look to exploit any remaining open window.

Winter 2027 transfer window

Attention will quickly turn to the mid-season market once the summer dust settles.

In England, the winter window opens on 1 January 2027 and closes on 1 February at 11pm GMT, offering managers a crucial month to fix what went wrong in the first half of the campaign.

Scotland joins a little later, opening on 5 January and shutting on 4 February at 5pm GMT.

The WSL window opens on 4 January and also ends on 4 February, mirroring Scotland’s final day.

The money is already huge, the gaps in squads already obvious. With the deadlines set, the only question now is who blinks first before the window slams shut.
