Omar Marmoush Set for Tottenham Move—Major Signing Ahead

Tottenham are closing in on another major attacking signing, with Omar Marmoush set for a medical after Spurs and Manchester City agreed a loan deal that includes an obligation to buy.

The Egyptian forward is poised to join on terms that underline just how highly Tottenham rate him. The obligation to buy is understood to be an initial £50million, with £5m in guaranteed add-ons and a further £5m in additional, performance-related bonuses.

Marmoush is expected to sign a four-year contract, with an option for Spurs to extend it by a further 12 months. It would mark a rapid change of scenery for a player who only arrived at City in January 2025.

The move is being treated as entirely separate from Tottenham’s £85m capture of Savio, Marmoush’s former Manchester City team-mate, who completed his switch to north London on Tuesday. Savio is available to make his debut in the Carabao Cup second-round tie at home to Charlton tonight, underlining how quickly Spurs are trying to bed in their new-look attack.

There will be no sell-on fee due to Eintracht Frankfurt, despite reports to the contrary. City’s agreement with Spurs does not include any clause that would see Frankfurt benefit from Marmoush’s next move.

On the pitch, last season never truly ignited for him. Marmoush struggled for regular game time, managing only eight Premier League starts, and slipped down the pecking order after an encouraging start to life in England. Across all competitions he still found a way to contribute, scoring eight goals in 36 appearances, but it was never enough to nail down a permanent place in City’s front line.

He now arrives at Tottenham with a clear target: take the No1 striker role. Marmoush is understood to be confident he can force his way ahead of Richarlison and Dominic Solanke in Roberto De Zerbi’s plans and establish himself as the Italian’s first-choice centre-forward.

For Spurs, this is another heavyweight swing in a lavish summer. Their spending has already surged beyond £300m with the arrivals of Savio, Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke. Marmoush’s deal only deepens the sense that Tottenham are all-in on De Zerbi’s vision – and that the battle for starting places in attack is about to get fierce.
