A rising star in the 2. Bundesliga is turning into one of the most coveted strikers on the market – and 1. FC Nürnberg know exactly what they’re sitting on.

Mohamed Ali Zoma has exploded onto the scene, and the list of admirers is growing by the week. According to Bild, clubs from France have already lined up: RC Lens and Paris FC are among those tracking the 22-year-old forward, with other suitors also making moves in the background.

Nürnberg are listening. But only at their price.

“He is not a cheap player”

Sporting director Joti Chatzialexiou didn’t bother to hide the club’s stance after last weekend’s 3–0 win over Dynamo Dresden – a match Zoma completely took over with all three goals.

“I don't want to start thinking about it at all, I want to keep the player. The others certainly know as well that he is not a cheap player,” Chatzialexiou said, underlining how hard any buyer will have to push to get him out of Franconia.

Supervisory board chairman Peter Meier had already set the tone earlier, floating a starting figure of at least €20 million. For a club in the 2. Bundesliga, that’s not just a transfer fee. That’s a statement.

The result: Nürnberg hold the cards. They don’t need a sale to balance the books, and they’re acting like it.

Klose counts on continuity

That financial security gives coach Miroslav Klose something every promotion-chasing manager craves: a realistic chance of keeping his star striker.

“You know how quickly things can move in football, but I am not concerning myself with that at all. I know that he feels very comfortable here. I don't have the feeling that he wants to go anywhere,” Klose explained.

For now, Zoma is not just the face of Nürnberg’s attack. He’s the symbol of a club that has learned how to develop, showcase and cash in on talent – without folding at the first big offer.

A club used to big deals

Recent history backs that up. Nürnberg have turned potential into serious money in the past few years.

• Stefanos Tzimas went for €26.5 million.

Zoma fits that pattern almost perfectly.

Signed only last year from Italian third-division side UC AlbinoLeffe for around €1.5 million, he now sits on the market as a potential €20 million-plus striker. The margin is enormous. The temptation will be too, especially if the French interest turns into a bidding war.
