Victor Osimhen Makes History at Galatasaray with 62 Goals

Victor Osimhen has written his name into another corner of Galatasaray history.

On a sharp Friday night, the Nigeria international struck twice in a 4-0 dismantling of Erzurum FK, a routine scoreline on paper but a landmark one for the club’s No 9. Those two goals pushed his tally to 62 in just 76 appearances for the Turkish champions and carried him past a familiar name in the club’s foreign folklore.

Milan Baros, the former Czech Republic star who once terrorised defences in Istanbul, is now behind him. Baros finished his Galatasaray career on 61 goals. Osimhen moved to 62 and third place outright on the all-time list of the club’s highest-scoring foreign players, as highlighted by Turkish outlet A Spor on X.

He has not only been scoring. Since arriving in Istanbul, the 27-year-old has also supplied 16 assists, a reminder that his impact stretches well beyond the penalty area. He drives attacks, occupies defenders, and still finds time to finish moves himself.

Foreign Scorers List

Two giants of the modern and golden eras remain in front of him. Mauro Icardi sits at the top of the foreign scorers list with 77 goals. Gheorghe Hagi, the Romanian icon whose left foot defined a generation for Galatasaray, holds second place on 72.

Osimhen is closing that gap with ominous speed.

New Süper Lig Campaign

His start to the new Süper Lig campaign underlines it. The brace against Erzurum FK took him to at least four goals across Galatasaray’s opening two league matches. That kind of early-season explosion has not been seen at the club since Mario Jardel in the 2000/01 season, a comparison that says everything about the level he is touching.
