Tottenham's High-Stakes Move for Victor Osimhen: Solanke and Richarlison Under Scrutiny

Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a rare opening in the chase for Victor Osimhen – but it comes with a clear price. One of Dominic Solanke or Richarlison will almost certainly have to go before the Nigerian can walk through the door in north London.

According to TEAMtalk, Spurs have been offered the chance to sign the Super Eagles striker as they continue to search for a genuine, top-level centre-forward ahead of the new season. The opportunity is there. The decision is not.

At this stage, Tottenham have not committed to a formal move for the 27-year-old. And no wonder. Any deal would tear a hole in the club’s wage structure and force a rethink of Ange Postecoglou’s attacking options.

Osimhen’s reported salary of €288,000 per week after tax would make him the highest earner at the club by some distance, a statement signing in every sense. To make that possible, Spurs know they must trim both the squad and the payroll. The most obvious pressure point lies up front, where Solanke and Richarlison are the ones under scrutiny.

It is a harsh reality for two forwards who arrived with big expectations. But the lure of Osimhen is obvious. Since leaving Napoli for Galatasaray in 2024, initially on loan before making the move permanent, he has protected his reputation as one of Europe’s most ruthless finishers.

His numbers in Turkey tell the story. Fifteen goals and five assists from just 19 Turkish Super Lig starts last season. Not a flat-track bully, not a fading name chasing one last payday, but a striker still very much operating at his peak and still catching the eye of Europe’s elite.

That form has kept him firmly on the radar of several major clubs, yet Tottenham have a card to play. Reports indicate Osimhen remains determined to test himself in the Premier League during the prime years of his career. For a club still rebuilding its identity after the Harry Kane era, that ambition aligns neatly with their own.

The attraction is mutual. The complications are financial and structural.

Spurs must decide whether Osimhen is worth reshaping the squad for. Offloading Solanke or Richarlison would not just be about raising funds; it would clear a starting berth and justify the kind of wage packet that could shatter dressing-room hierarchies.

Tottenham have been here before, hovering around marquee deals without quite pulling the trigger. This time, the path is clear but narrow: reduce the numbers, cut the wage bill, then go all in on a striker who changes the conversation.
