Safia Middleton-Patel Joins Watford on Loan for 2026-27 Season

Safia Middleton-Patel will spend the 2026-27 campaign with Watford after sealing a season-long loan move from Manchester United.

The Wales international, 21, returns to Vicarage Road after a successful spell in the second half of the 2023-24 season, this time committing to a full year with the Hornets in Women's Super League 2.

Middleton-Patel’s rise has been sharp. She made her senior debut for United against Newcastle United in December 2024, a landmark moment for the highly rated goalkeeper. She went on to feature three times under Marc Skinner last season, including in United’s Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain at Old Trafford.

United underlined their interest in her development in a brief statement, saying: "We will be tracking Saf's progress closely and wish her the very best of luck."

Now comes the real test: a full season as a frontline option, and a chance to show she can turn potential into a permanent place in United’s long-term plans.
