Real Madrid Targets Michael Olise for Record Transfer

Florentino Pérez has never been one for quiet re-elections. Back in the presidential chair at Real Madrid, he is again reaching for the familiar script: a Galáctico, a statement, a shockwave across Europe.

This time the name at the top of the wish list is Michael Olise.

Madrid eye Olise and a new world record

Despite Bayern Munich’s firm stance that the Frenchman is not for sale, Real Madrid are preparing to put that resolve under serious strain. Spanish journalist Látigo Serrano reports that Madrid are lining up an opening bid of €180m (£155m) for Olise – and are willing to go even higher.

Higher, in fact, than anyone has ever gone.

If that first offer does not move Bayern, Madrid are said to be prepared to break the current €222m world transfer record to land the winger. For Pérez, it would be a familiar kind of celebration: a marquee signing to underline both his power and the club’s enduring pull at the top of the game.

One forward who will not be part of that project, though, is Viktor Gyökeres.

Gyökeres going nowhere – but Martinelli’s future opens up

The Swedish striker, fresh from a 21-goal debut season in North London, has been mentioned in a swirl of rumours involving Atletico Madrid and a possible role as a makeweight in an Arsenal move for Julian Alvarez. Those suggestions have been firmly knocked back.

Caught Offside have dismissed the idea of Gyökeres being pushed towards Madrid as a bargaining chip, cooling talk of a complex multi-club shuffle.

The same certainty cannot be applied to Gabriel Martinelli.

According to The Times, the Brazilian is now considering his future at the Emirates. Arsenal are prioritising the signing of a new left winger, and that strategic shift has left Martinelli weighing up his position. With just 12 months remaining on his current deal, the clock is ticking loudly over one of the club’s most marketable assets.

If Arsenal do press ahead with a big addition on the left, the question becomes unavoidable: does Martinelli sign up for the fight, or look for a fresh start elsewhere?

United plot ruthless goalkeeping overhaul

Up the road at Old Trafford, Manchester United are preparing for a summer of hard decisions between the posts.

Andre Onana, Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitik could all depart in a sweeping goalkeeping clear-out. After another turbulent campaign, United’s hierarchy appear ready to reset the entire department rather than tinker around the edges.

Vitik, in particular, has no shortage of admirers. Newly promoted Hull, Coventry and Ipswich are all chasing the keeper, sensing an opportunity to add Premier League pedigree as they gear up for life in the top flight. For United, those approaches could help fund a rebuild in a position that has lacked stability since the peak years of David de Gea.

Villa target Bowen as West Ham face post-relegation reality

Aston Villa, fresh from clinching Champions League football, are moving like a club determined to make their return to Europe’s elite count.

Jarrod Bowen has emerged as a key target. The West Ham captain is facing the prospect of Championship football after relegation, and Villa see a chance to prise him away from the London Stadium and straight back into the glare of the biggest stage.

Sky Sports report that Villa are weighing up a formal offer, with West Ham seeking around £50m for their talisman. For Bowen, it is a stark contrast: the second tier with the club he led, or Champions League nights with one of the Premier League’s most upwardly mobile sides.

Madrid circling record fees, Arsenal rebalancing their attack, United tearing up their goalkeeping plan, Villa raiding the relegated – the market is only just opening, but the shape of next season is already being drawn in bold lines.
