Monaco Signs Four Promising Teenagers from Morocco's 2008 Generation

Monaco have tied down two of Morocco’s brightest teenagers as part of a wider bet on their 2008 generation, handing first professional contracts to four academy prospects after a standout season.

The club announced on Tuesday that Moroccans Safouane Benzahra and Nahil El Haddani, Tunisian-French midfielder Nejd Ajroud and Melvin Gomes Da Veiga have all signed deals running until 30 June 2029.

All four are products of Monaco’s academy and were key figures in the under-19 side that battled their way to the semi-finals of the French league last season, a run that pushed them firmly onto the radar of rival scouts. The Principality side moved quickly, turning promise into long-term commitment.

Their rise has been steady but sharp. According to Foot Mercato, the quartet had already been earmarked for promotion after joining Filipe Luís’s squad for pre-season preparations, a clear sign that the staff saw them as ready for the next step.

Benzahra has already crossed that line. The Morocco youth international has made his competitive debut for Monaco, featuring in a league clash with Paris Saint-Germain and offering a first glimpse of what he can bring at senior level.

Ajroud, El Haddani and Da Veiga now wait for their own moment, working inside a club that has built a reputation for turning talented teenagers into established professionals. Their contracts are signed. The pathway is open. The rest is up to them.
