Speaking to local outlet 61saat, Çelebi said tourism demand has spiked not only from Egypt, but from a wider sweep of North African countries drawn by Salah’s switch.

Trabzon has long relied on a short, crowded season. Hotels typically fill up for just three or four months before occupancy drops sharply. Now, city officials see Salah as the catalyst to break that pattern.

The plan is clear: turn the global pull of one of football’s biggest names into year-round business. Authorities and tourism operators are working to package the new buzz around Trabzonspor into a broader appeal, using Salah’s presence as a hook to keep visitors coming outside the traditional peak months.

Trabzonspor confirmed the signing of Mohamed Salah last Thursday, landing the former Liverpool forward on a free transfer. The deal runs for two seasons after his contract at Anfield expired at the end of last campaign.
