Liverpool Prepares Bid for PSG Winger Ibrahim Mbaye as Transfer Deadline Approaches

Liverpool’s quiet summer may finally be about to crackle into life, with the club expected to lodge an opening offer for Paris Saint-Germain winger Ibrahim Mbaye in the coming days.

New manager Andoni Iraola has watched the window drift by with minimal movement. Victor Munoz is the only senior signing so far, while defender Jeremy Jacquet has arrived on a pre-agreed deal from January. For a club with Liverpool’s ambitions, it’s a thin return.

And the squad looks even thinner.

Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson and Ibrahima Konate have all walked away on free transfers. Several others are being heavily linked with exits before the September 1 deadline. The 20-time English champions are heading into the new season with a razor-edged squad that looks one or two injuries away from trouble.

That reality is driving the push into Paris.

Mbaye emerges as a live target

Liverpool’s primary focus this summer has been PSG forward Bradley Barcola. The European champions, though, have slapped a £145 million price tag on the France international. Even with the player understood to have agreed to join the Premier League side, that fee has slammed the brakes on any deal.

So Liverpool have turned to another talent in the same dressing room.

Senegal winger Ibrahim Mbaye has moved up the list, and, according to L’Equipe journalist Loic Tanzi, Liverpool are now expected to submit their first formal offer for the 21-year-old in the coming days.

Sources at GIVEMESPORT indicate Mbaye would be open to the move to Anfield. PSG, however, are demanding a significant fee despite his lack of extensive first-team experience. The winger is pushing for a transfer to secure regular senior football, and Bayer Leverkusen are also in the frame, keeping the pressure on Liverpool to act decisively.

PSG, for their part, have already started reshaping their attack. Spain international Ferran Torres has arrived from Barcelona just weeks after scoring the winning goal in the World Cup final, while a deal has been agreed with Ajax for Mika Godts to move to Paris. With fresh attacking options secured, the French giants are prepared to let Mbaye go — for the right price.

The opportunity is there. It now comes down to how hard Liverpool are willing to push.

Iraola’s attacking options look alarmingly light

The urgency is obvious when you scan Liverpool’s current forward line.

Alexander Isak stands as the lone out-and-out number nine. Behind him, Iraola can call on Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha, Florian Wirtz, Munoz and Harvey Elliott. It’s a talented group, but for a club that wants to contest titles and go deep in Europe, it is nowhere near a fully loaded arsenal.

The season kicks off in less than a week. Iraola needs reinforcements, not hypotheticals.

Mbaye fits a clear need: pace, width, and a willingness to run at defenders from the flank. PSG are ready to cash in. The player wants out. Bayer Leverkusen are circling.

The deal is there to be made.
