James Maddison Set to Return for Tottenham Against Everton
James Maddison is set to make his return for Tottenham against Everton, with Roberto De Zerbi confirming the midfielder is ready to be involved after a brief spell on the sidelines.
Maddison has missed Spurs’ last three games in all competitions with a shoulder problem, but has now been passed fit and is in line to rejoin the squad as they look to steady their form.
While Maddison comes back, Dejan Kulusevski stays out.
The Swede has not trained over the past week and will remain sidelined. He only recently returned to training after more than a year out with a knee injury, but has suffered what the club view as a minor setback.
“No, Kulusevski is not working with us the last week,” De Zerbi said. “It’s not a big problem. It’s a normal problem.”
Mykhailo Mudryk is also unavailable. De Zerbi did not hide his frustration, describing it as a “stupid injury”, and Spurs are choosing caution as they manage his fitness after a long period without regular football.
“It was a stupid injury for Mudryk, but we hope he will be back soon,” De Zerbi added. “It’s a normal process when a player has not played in a long time.”
Maddison’s return gives Tottenham a badly needed creative spark. The real question now is how quickly the rest of De Zerbi’s attacking options can follow him back onto the pitch.
