Hull City Targets Roma Starlet Robinio Vaz for Loan Move

Newly-promoted Hull City are pushing hard to land one of Serie A’s brightest young forwards, with the club close to agreeing a deal for Roma attacker Robinio Vaz.

Respected reporter David Ornstein of The Athletic claims Hull are on the brink of sealing a season-long loan for the 19-year-old, worth around €2m, with an option to buy set at €30m. For a club just returning to the Premier League, it is an audacious move.

A swift profit on Roma’s winter gamble

If Hull trigger that option, Roma will bank an instant profit. The Italian side only brought Vaz in from Marseille in the winter window earlier this year, paying €25m for the teenager after his explosive start to the 2025-26 campaign in Ligue 1.

He had already made his mark in France before Roma came calling. Vaz scored four goals and supplied two assists in 14 league appearances for Marseille, form that convinced Roma to move quickly.

His first months in Italy were more of a slow burn. Used exclusively from the bench in Serie A, Vaz still managed to add one more goal from 12 substitute outings, offering flashes of why he is so highly rated but never quite nailing down a starting place.

Roma’s FFP puzzle

The potential deal also feeds into the wider story around Roma’s summer. There had been strong suggestions earlier in the window that Financial Fair Play constraints would force the club into sacrificing at least one headline name.

So far, that hasn’t happened. Manu Kone, Wesley and Matias Soule all remain at the Stadio Olimpico as the Serie A deadline approaches, with Roma resisting major sales.

Letting Vaz leave on loan with a sizeable option to buy would ease some of that financial pressure without touching their established core. For Hull, it would be something else entirely: a statement swing at a teenager who has already commanded two big fees before his 20th birthday.
