Fenerbahce Signs Lukaku for Title Challenge

Fenerbahce have made their boldest move of the summer, confirming the arrival of Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku from Napoli as they load up for a full-scale assault on Turkish football’s summit.

The Istanbul club kept the numbers behind the transfer out of the spotlight, but French outlet Foot Mercato values the deal at around 6 million euros, with the total potentially climbing through bonuses and performance-related add-ons.

Lukaku, now 33, leaves Italy after two seasons in Naples that delivered a Serie A crown and restored some of his old edge on the big stage. That chapter is closed. The next one opens in Istanbul, with the weight of expectation sitting squarely on his shoulders.

Fenerbahce have been building aggressively all summer, and Lukaku walks into a dressing room stacked with names that would not look out of place in a Champions League knockout tie. Fenerbahce finished last season as runners-up to their fiercest rivals, and that sting has clearly shaped this transfer window. Every new arrival, and especially Lukaku’s, feels like part of a deliberate attempt to tilt the balance of power in Istanbul and across the country.
