Colin Dagba Joins Carrarese on Long-Term Deal

Carrarese have moved decisively in the market, tying down former PSG right-back Colin Dagba on a free transfer and handing him a long-term deal that runs to June 30, 2028.

The 27-year-old arrives after leaving Belgian side Beerschot on July 1 and steps into Serie B with an agreement that could stretch even further, thanks to an automatic extension clause triggered by specific performance targets. For a player once tipped as a long-term option at the Parc des Princes, this is a reset, and a clear statement that he intends to relaunch his career in Italy.

Carrarese did not hide their excitement in the official announcement, highlighting both his pedigree and his profile. The club underlined the attributes that once made him one of France’s brightest young full-backs, describing the French defender, born in 1998, as a right-back with “impressive attacking ability, pace, and prowess in attacking play.”

They were just as keen to stress that he is not a one-dimensional, forward-only full-back, pointing to his reliability without the ball and noting that he is “consistently alert and consistent in defense, especially in marking.” In a league where defensive discipline often decides seasons, that balance matters.

Dagba’s CV brings real weight to a Carrarese side still finding its feet. He made 77 senior appearances for PSG across all competitions, including seven outings in the Champions League. During his spell in Paris he collected three Ligue 1 titles, two Coupe de France wins and two Trophee des Champions, before loan stints at Strasbourg and Auxerre added further top-flight experience in France.

Now that experience drops into the hands of Gabriele Cioffi, who suddenly has a defender with genuine European nights behind him to bolster a back line that needs tightening. Carrarese sit 14th in the Serie B table, with only one point from their first two league fixtures, and the early signs of the campaign have been uneven.
