Bayern Munich Defeats Leipzig 3–1: Diaz Impresses, Saibari Shines on Debut

Bayern Munich stepped up their pre-season preparations with a 3–1 win over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena on Saturday, a scoreline that reflected both their attacking edge and a few early-season jitters.

The hosts started with intent. On 14 minutes, Luis Diaz announced himself to the Bayern crowd with the sort of finish they signed him for. The Colombian found space and struck to give the Bavarians an early lead, a clean, confident goal that settled any opening nerves and hinted at what he could bring in the months ahead.

Bayern controlled much of the first half without killing the contest. Leipzig stayed in the game, hanging on to that narrow deficit as the sides went in at the break with the score at 1–0. It felt like a friendly on the scoreboard, but the intensity suggested something closer to a dress rehearsal.

Leipzig came out sharper after the interval. The pressure told on 52 minutes when Bryan Gruda dragged them level, punishing Bayern’s lapse and reminding the home side that their back line is still a work in progress.

The response was ruthless.

Just five minutes after conceding, Bayern were back in front. Aleksandar Pavlovic split the Leipzig defence with a precise pass and Nathaniel Brown pounced, restoring the lead and swinging the momentum straight back to the champions. One pass, one run, one cold finish. 2–1, and the Allianz noise rose again.

Then came the first glimpse of Bayern’s new Moroccan signing in their colours.

On 71 minutes, Ismael Saibari made his debut, replacing Tom Bischof after his summer move from Eindhoven. It didn’t take long for him to justify the excitement. Barely ten minutes later, he stamped his name on the night, threading a smart ball through for Jamal Musiala, who added Bayern’s third. Two substitutes combining, one clinical move, and the game effectively settled.

Musiala’s impact was electric but brief. Late in the match, the playmaker fainted and had to leave the field in the 86th minute, bringing a sudden hush to what had been a confident evening for Bayern. Young Senegalese player Bara Ndiaye came on in his place as the hosts saw out the final minutes.

The result will please Bayern as much as the performances of their new and emerging faces. Diaz on the scoresheet, Saibari with an assist, Brown decisive, Pavlovic pulling strings — all just in time for the first piece of silverware on offer.
