Barcelona Set to Finalize Rodri Signing for Ambitious Move
Barcelona are bracing for one of the defining days of their summer, with Rodri set to touch down in the city this evening to seal a long-term move that underlines the club’s ambition.
The Spanish midfielder is expected in Barcelona at around 19:00, flying in to complete the final formalities of a deal the club have been working towards for weeks. A medical awaits, then the last signatures. After that, Barcelona will be able to present one of the standout signings of their window.
The agreement will bind Rodri to Barcelona until June 2030. A six-year commitment from both sides, and a clear statement of how heavily the Catalan giants are betting on a player widely regarded as one of the very best in his role.
It will be a frantic Monday around the club’s offices and training ground. João Cancelo is due to arrive first, with Rodri following later in the afternoon as Barcelona stack elite talent in key positions.
Once both players complete their medicals, the club plan to move swiftly: contracts signed, photos taken, announcements made. Only then can they step fully into the dressing room and onto the training pitch, where the real work begins.
All signs point to a first taste of their new home next Wednesday. Rodri and Cancelo are expected to be at the Spotify Camp Nou for the Joan Gamper Trophy, watching from the stands as their new team-mates face Al Ahly.
By then, the introductions should be over. The next time they walk out at the stadium, the expectation will be very different.
