Raphinha Shuts Down Exit Rumours and Eyes Barcelona Future

Raphinha has drawn a clear line under a summer of rumours. The Brazilian says he is not going anywhere – and he wants to stay at Barcelona long enough to sign off his career in blaugrana colours.

Fresh from the best start to a season of his European career, the winger has gone public with his wish to sit down with the club and discuss a new deal, despite already being tied to Barça until 2028.

Captaincy, goals and a new outlook

Hansi Flick handed Raphinha the first-captain’s armband this season, a bold call that has quickly looked inspired. The extra responsibility has sharpened his edge rather than weighed him down.

He currently leads the scoring charts in Spain with nine goals, driving a Barcelona side that have exploded out of the blocks domestically. "I renewed until 2028 with the idea that, by then, I would be 30 or 31 years old and I didn't know how I would manage," he admitted. Back then, he was unsure how long his body and form would allow him to compete at the very top.

That doubt has gone.

Raphinha now feels his physical condition and current level have reset the clock on his career. Under Flick, he looks settled, confident and convinced he can sustain this output for several more seasons.

"But given how I've started the season, I understand that I have enough to last a few more years. So, yes, I would be happy to extend my contract a little and finish my career here without having to go anywhere else," he said, making his stance on future transfers unmistakable.

Barcelona, who chased him hard to bring him to Camp Nou, now find themselves with a star who wants to repay that faith by committing the rest of his playing days to the club.

Sevilla next, then Europe

The schedule offers Raphinha no time to dwell on contract talk. On Saturday he leads Barcelona into a testing trip to the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan to face Sevilla, carrying that tally of nine league goals and the momentum of his recent scoring burst.

Right after that, the stage gets even bigger. Barcelona face crucial fixtures in the UEFA Champions League, a competition where Raphinha has already left his mark this season with a brace in a commanding 5-1 win over Feyenoord.
