Transfer Market Update: Premier League and La Liga Moves

The transfer market rarely sleeps. Today, it’s in full sprint.

Across Europe, some of the game’s biggest clubs are circling the same names, testing each other’s resolve and the limits of their own budgets. Center backs, wingers, strikers, even goalkeepers – nobody is off the table.

Premier League heavyweights collide

Arsenal and Manchester United have both stepped up talks with Bayer Leverkusen over England international Jarell Quansah, according to FootballTransfers. Two rivals, one emerging center back, and a negotiation that already feels like a tug-of-war.

Liverpool, meanwhile, are moving with intent. El Nacional report that they expect to beat Real Madrid to the signing of Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, a statement of both financial power and planning for the future at Anfield.

Up front, the battle for goals has a familiar name at the center of it. TEAMtalk say Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur have all held discussions over a move for Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen. For Arsenal, this isn’t just another option. Journalist Sébastien Denis claims Mikel Arteta has made Osimhen his top target for the rest of the window, a clear sign of how badly he wants a marquee No. 9.

At Old Trafford, the rebuild continues down the left flank. Roundtable report that Manchester United have held formal talks with Newcastle United over left back Lewis Hall, a move that would add youth and balance to their defensive options.

Across the city, Manchester City are holding firm. Fichajes report that City have rejected a $115 million (£85 million) offer from Tottenham for winger Savinho, convinced Spurs will come back with more. Tottenham’s need on the flanks is obvious. Fabrizio Romano says they want two wingers and are looking not only at Savinho but also Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo and Chelsea’s Pedro Neto.

That interest in Gakpo has already taken a step forward. Voetbal International report that Tottenham have reached an agreement on personal terms with the Dutch forward, leaving the clubs to thrash out a fee.

Liverpool’s own winger hunt has hit a pause. L’Équipe report that negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain for Bradley Barcola have stalled, with the Merseyside club planning to return in the final 10 days of the window when the pressure is at its peak. talkSPORT claim PSG’s current asking price of $196 million (£145 million) for Barcola could drop to around $169 million (£125 million), a gap Liverpool clearly hope will close as the deadline looms.

To sharpen that focus, Fabrizio Romano reports that Liverpool have ended their pursuit of another PSG winger, Ibrahim Mbaye, to concentrate solely on Barcola, believing a double deal would be financially excessive.

At the back, Manchester United’s shopping list stretches into Bavaria. Christian Falk reports that United hold an interest in Bayern Munich center back Kim Min-jae, another sign that central defense remains a priority at Old Trafford.

Arsenal’s own back line overhaul is gathering pace. Football Insider describe their move for Aston Villa defender Ezri Konsa as “99% done” after the England international requested to leave, with negotiations said to be close to completion. If Quansah also arrives, the Emirates back four will look very different very quickly.

Newcastle United are not sitting quietly either. After Bayern Munich publicly confirmed the collapse of talks with Aston Villa over João Palhinha, Diego Pico reports that Newcastle have launched an aggressive push to bring the midfielder to Tyneside, sensing an opening in a deal that once looked destined for Birmingham.

La Liga’s giants play the long game

In Spain, the market has its own rhythm, but the names are just as big.

At Barcelona, Hansi Flick is pushing hard for firepower. Jijantes report that the Barça manager has asked the club to make one final push to sign Atlético Madrid striker Julián Álvarez, who is expected to hold talks with his current employers next week.

Yet there is a bigger midfield prize in their sights. Gianluigi Longari claims Barcelona are fully focused on completing a deal for Manchester City midfielder Rodri first. Only once that saga is resolved will they consider returning to the Álvarez pursuit. One blockbuster at a time.

Real Madrid are juggling their own moving parts. Gazzetta dello Sport report that Juventus have identified Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin as a potential target as they widen their search for a new No. 1. At the other end of the pitch, talks between Real Madrid and Strasbourg over the sale of 20-year-old striker Jacobo Ortega have collapsed, according to Ángel García, clearing the way for Elche to step in and negotiate.

And then there is Harry Kane. Barcelona and Tottenham are both continuing to monitor the Bayern Munich striker, Christian Falk reports, even as the expectation grows that the England captain will sign a new contract to stay with the German champions until 2029.

Clubs are circling, offers are being tested, and deadlines are inching closer. The only real question now: who blinks first?
