Tottenham's Transfer Frenzy: Sávio and Marmoush Join De Zerbi's Squad

Tottenham’s transfer frenzy shows no sign of slowing, and Roberto De Zerbi is loving every second of it.

Spurs have pulled off a headline-grabbing double move for Sávio and Omar Marmoush from Manchester City, a statement of intent that drags their summer outlay beyond the £350 million mark. Sávio arrives in an £85m package, while Marmoush joins on a season-long loan that includes an obligation to buy, potentially rising to £60m.

For De Zerbi, these aren’t just numbers on a balance sheet. They are weapons.

“I think Sávio and Marmoush are bomba,” he said ahead of Saturday’s Premier League clash with Newcastle. “I don't know what name or how you can call them but players of a high level, for sure.”

That excitement is rooted in what Marmoush has already shown across Europe. The Egyptian forward hits north London off the back of 37 goals at Eintracht Frankfurt and 16 at Manchester City, form that instantly deepens Tottenham’s attacking options at a time when James Maddison is not fully fit and Mohammed Kudus is only just returning from injury.

The timing feels deliberate. Spurs have been aggressive all window, reshaping a squad to match De Zerbi’s demanding, high-tempo style. Yet the Italian insists the business is not done.

He admitted he “didn’t expect one transfer market and one window like we have done,” but the club are still pushing for at least one more signing before Tuesday night’s deadline.

“I think we can do one player more and in one specific position,” De Zerbi revealed. “But yesterday we went for dinner with the owners, with Vinai [Venkatesham], with Johan [Lange] and with Enrico [Venturelli]. We spoke about this, but we have all of us on the same page and there is a very good connection.”

That dinner matters. It underlines a rare alignment between head coach and hierarchy at a club that has often wrestled with its own identity. De Zerbi has a clear blueprint; the recruitment team is backing it with serious money and, crucially, with the kind of profile he craves.

Marmoush fits that template perfectly. Direct, quick, and ruthless in front of goal, he offers a different dimension in the final third and competition that should sharpen everyone around him.

“A great signing for us. A great player, another great player and every one of us loves him as a player,” De Zerbi said. “We hope he can do what he is able. I think he can give more solutions in attack. We need players in attack capable to score goals, to play well with the ball also, a very fast player, great qualities and we are all happy.”

Sávio, meanwhile, arrives as the marquee attacking investment of the window, another high-ceiling talent dropped into a system that demands bravery on the ball and relentless movement off it.

Newcastle will be the first to feel the impact of this new-look Spurs frontline. The bigger question is how far this level of backing and this calibre of signing can carry De Zerbi’s Tottenham across a season that is starting to look anything but cautious.
