Harry Kane Shatters Bundesliga Record with 100 Goals in 98 Matches

Harry Kane needed just one swing of his right boot to rip up another page of Bundesliga history.

From the penalty spot at the Allianz Arena, in the 39th minute against Union Berlin, the Bayern Munich striker swept the ball home and crossed the 100-goal mark in Germany’s top flight. He did it in only 98 league appearances. No one has ever got there faster.

A record smashed, not just broken

Dieter Müller’s long-standing record had survived since the 1970s. The former Cologne forward took 129 Bundesliga games to reach his century. Kane has cut that down by 31 matches, a gulf that underlines just how relentless he has been since landing in Bavaria.

The moment itself was clinical and cold-blooded. Michael Olise was brought down in the box, the referee pointed to the spot, and there was never any doubt who would take it. Kane, England’s captain and Bayern’s reference point, placed the ball, picked his corner and buried it. One kick, one record, another landmark for a player who has turned scoring into a weekly routine.

Numbers that barely look real

Since his move from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2023, Kane has turned the Bundesliga into his personal shooting gallery. He is averaging a goal every 78.5 minutes in the competition, a strike rate that towers over some of the most feared finishers the league has ever seen.

Erling Haaland, during his explosive spell at Borussia Dortmund, found the net every 87 minutes. Robert Lewandowski, a legend in these parts, operated at roughly 100 minutes per goal. Gerd Müller, the original penalty-box predator, sits at around 105. Kane is outpacing them all.

The volume has been relentless across seasons, not just in one hot streak. He hit 36 goals in his debut Bundesliga campaign, followed that with 26 in 2024-25, then added another 35 last season. That consistency has underpinned Bayern’s grip on the title race and restored a sense of inevitability to their domestic campaigns.

Bayern’s new benchmark

Kane had already become the fastest player this century to reach 100 goals for a single club in Europe’s top five leagues, hitting that milestone for Bayern in just 104 competitive matches. Cristiano Ronaldo needed 105 games to do it at Real Madrid. Haaland required the same number at Manchester City. Kane has moved past them, one game quicker, in a league and a club he had to adapt to from scratch.

From Munich to the world stage

His dominance is not confined to club football. Kane remains England’s all-time leading scorer and pushed his international tally to 70 during the 2026 World Cup. The goals that once came without trophies at Tottenham are now arriving with silverware attached.

Bayern have claimed back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2024-25 and 2025-26, with Kane at the centre of both campaigns. The narrative that followed him from north London — the great striker without a league title — has been left behind.

The question now is not whether Kane will keep breaking records in Germany. It is how many he will leave standing when he finally walks away.
