Tottenham Rejects Richarlison Bid from Shabab Al Ahli

Tottenham have turned down an offer from Shabab Al Ahli for Richarlison, blocking a late move to the UAE and leaving the Brazilian facing an awkward spell in limbo in North London.

TEAMtalk understands the proposal from the UAE Pro League side did not meet Spurs’ requirements, prompting the club to reject the approach despite Richarlison’s openness to the move.

Middle East escape route closed

After failed attempts to engineer exits to Everton, Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama earlier in the window, the Middle East had emerged as Richarlison’s last realistic route out of Tottenham before January.

Shabab Al Ahli pushed to make it happen. Former Brazil Olympic coach Andre Jardine was keen on a reunion with the forward and saw him as a marquee attacking addition. The deal on the table would have allowed Richarlison to move now and potentially switch again in January.

Tottenham were unmoved. The structure of the offer was not considered suitable and, crucially, the club decided they were not prepared to sanction his departure on those terms.

So the window in the UAE ticks towards its close — just over a week remains — and, as it stands, Richarlison will not be joining Jardine in Dubai.

A difficult spell ahead

The decision leaves the 29-year-old in a stark position. He is set to stay at Tottenham until at least January but has been left out of the club’s Premier League squad.

Unless something changes dramatically, the former Watford and Everton forward now faces the prospect of three-and-a-half months without competitive first-team football.

His future has hung in the air all summer. Everton explored a reunion, Trabzonspor and Vasco da Gama sounded out deals, and now Shabab Al Ahli have been turned away as well. Each path has closed for different reasons, but the outcome is the same: Richarlison remains a Tottenham player without a clear role.

Spurs’ next move

Tottenham must now decide how to handle an experienced international forward who sits outside their Premier League plans but remains under contract until the end of the season, with an option to extend for a further 12 months.

For now, Richarlison stays put. The transfer doors have shut around him. The next one that might open comes in January — but by then, what kind of shape will his Spurs career, and his market, be in?
