Schalke Receives Fitness Boost as Gosens Returns to Training

With the new Bundesliga season edging closer, FC Schalke 04 finally have something to smile about on the injury front.

Summer signing Robin Gosens took a significant step forward on Wednesday, 12 August, as he rejoined the squad for large parts of full team training. The left-sided defender had picked up a thigh injury in a test match against Hessen Kassel at the start of the month, briefly stalling the early momentum of his Schalke move. Now, his workload is rising again at just the right time.

The good news does not stop there. Captain Kenan Karaman is also back with the group after shaking off a pelvic contusion sustained in the friendly against Atalanta on 8 August. His return restores leadership and stability to a side trying to sharpen its shape before competitive action begins.

One player still on a different timetable is Junior Dina Ebimbe. The midfielder continues to work individually and needs a little more time before he can be reintegrated into full squad training.

Schalke’s medical updates rarely sound this encouraging in pre-season. This time, though, key pieces are sliding back into place just as the campaign looms.
