Sacha Boey Likely to Stay at Bayern Munich

Sacha Boey’s Bayern Munich future, which seemed to be heading for a quick separation this summer, has swung back the other way.

Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund confirmed on Friday that the French full-back is now more likely to stay in Munich after a move away failed to materialise before the closure of the German transfer window.

“The probability is now greater that he'll stay here,” Freund told reporters, underlining a clear shift from the club’s original plan to offload the 25-year-old.

Bayern had been open to parting ways with Boey, but no suitable deal was completed in time. The right-back, however, has not complicated matters behind the scenes.

“He's always behaved in impeccable fashion. The plan was different, but this can happen in football,” Freund said, acknowledging both the club’s intentions and the unpredictability of the market.

For now, Bayern wait on the rest of Europe. Other leagues’ windows remain open, so a late twist cannot be completely ruled out. But Freund made it clear what happens if no offer lands.

“When all transfer windows are closed and he's still here, then he'll remain a player in our squad.”

Boey’s Bayern story, once seemingly over before it had really begun, suddenly has the chance of another chapter.
