Real Madrid Secures Arda Güler with New Contract
Real Madrid are moving to lock down one of their brightest assets for the long haul, with Arda Güler on the verge of signing a huge new contract that will keep him at the Bernabéu well into the next decade.
Spanish outlet AS first reported on Thursday that talks had taken a major step forward. A few hours later, transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano went further: all details between Madrid and the 21-year-old’s camp are agreed, with only the signature missing.
The deal is expected to run at least until 2031. Romano even claims it will stretch to 2032. If that timeline holds, Güler will join an exclusive group inside the dressing room. Only big-money summer arrival Yan Diomande, signed for a hefty €125 million and tied down until 2033, would be contracted for longer.
For Güler, it marks a clear shift in status. When he arrived from Fenerbahce in the summer of 2023, he put pen to paper on a deal through 2029. That already looked like a long-term bet. Now Madrid are doubling down.
They can afford to. The numbers back them.
Real Madrid paid €28 million to bring the Turkish prodigy from Istanbul to Spain. Since then, his value has exploded. His current market valuation stands at around €90 million, making the elegant left-footer the most valuable Turkish footballer by a distance.
His pay packet is set to catch up with his performances. Güler has reportedly been earning around €5 million per year, but the new agreement is expected to deliver a major salary upgrade in line with his growing importance.
That rise hasn’t come by reputation alone. It’s been built on the pitch.
Last season, Güler chipped in with 20 goal involvements across 51 competitive games, gradually forcing his way from impact substitute to regular starter. The more he played, the more indispensable he looked.
This campaign, under new head coach Jose Mourinho, he has wasted no time in staking his claim again. Güler started three of Real Madrid’s first four league fixtures and produced the same output each time: one goal, one assist. Reliable. Decisive. Repetitive in the best possible way.
Only a suspension, carried over from a red card in last season’s Champions League, kept him out of the 2-1 win over Inter Milan in Europe. It took a ban, not a coach’s decision, to remove him from the team sheet.
Real Madrid have seen enough. A €28 million gamble is turning into a cornerstone of their future, and they are moving quickly to make sure Arda Güler’s rise happens in their colours for as long as possible.
