Raheem Sterling Charged with Dangerous Driving and Nitrous Oxide Possession

Raheem Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving and possession of nitrous oxide after crashing his car on the M3 in May.

Police confirmed the former England winger faces three offences following a single-vehicle collision on May 28 in Hampshire, near England’s south coast.

"A driver will appear in court next month to face charges following a collision on the M3," a Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary spokesman told BBC News. The force named the driver as Raheem Sterling, 31, from Berkshire.

According to police, Sterling has been charged with dangerous driving, possession of nitrous oxide for wrongful inhalation, and failing to provide a specimen. The incident involved a Lamborghini on the M3 southbound, close to the Minley Interchange in Hampshire.

No other vehicles were involved and no injuries were reported.

Sterling is due to appear at Basingstoke magistrates court on 15 September.

The case comes at a crossroads moment in his career. Sterling has been without a club since leaving Dutch side Feyenoord at the end of last season and is currently a free agent.

On the pitch, his record for England remains substantial: 82 caps, 20 goals, and a central role in the run to the 2018 World Cup semifinals and the Euro 2020 final.
