Rafael Leao Denies Negative Influence Claims by New Milan Coach

Rafael Leao has publicly slapped down a report claiming new Milan coach Ruben Amorim considers him a “negative influence” in the dressing room, accusing the source of flat-out lying.

The Portugal international, usually a quiet presence on X, broke his social media silence after seeing a post repeat claims first carried by La Gazzetta dello Sport. The report suggested Amorim views Leao as a disruptive figure in the Milan squad and is worried about the winger’s impact on the team’s atmosphere.

Leao did not let it slide. He replied directly: “You are lying”, then followed up with, “Maybe because you are lying,” adding three laughing-face emojis to underline his contempt for the story.

The 25-year-old is absent from Milan’s friendly against Manchester United, but that absence is down to a minor injury, not a disciplinary problem or any clash with the new coach.

Away from the noise online, Leao’s future remains unresolved. Both he and the club have spent the summer exploring a transfer, yet the market has not responded with the kind of offer Milan wanted. Proposals have arrived from Galatasaray, Besiktas and Fenerbahce, but all have fallen well short of the original valuation.

Milan initially set the bar at 50 million euros plus 10 million in add-ons. Those figures scared off serious bidders. Now the Rossoneri are softening their stance and are prepared to consider offers around 40 million euros.

The message from Leao is clear: he rejects the idea he is a problem in the dressing room. The message from Milan’s pricing shift is just as stark. For the right fee, one of Serie A’s most mercurial talents is there to be taken.
