PSG Signs Winger Mika Godts for €55m Amid Major Attack Overhaul

Paris Saint-Germain have moved aggressively to reshape their attack, reaching a verbal agreement with Ajax to sign highly rated winger Mika Godts in a package worth €55m (£46.9m).

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reported on X that PSG’s latest official bid has been accepted, with a verbal pact now in place between the clubs. The paperwork has not yet been exchanged, but the deal is understood to be at the final stages.

The Belgian is set to arrive as part of a major rebuild of Luis Enrique’s frontline, alongside Barcelona forward Ferran Torres, who is closing in on a separate move to the Parc des Princes. Two new wide forwards, significant outlay, and a clear message: PSG are loading up in attack.

And that has immediate consequences elsewhere in Europe.

Barcola’s future in the spotlight

With Godts and Torres poised to walk through the door, the spotlight swings directly onto Bradley Barcola. PSG’s stance on the Frenchman has been firm all summer, but the arrival of two more wingers changes the dynamic and piles pressure on the French champions to trim what is fast becoming an overcrowded forward line.

Liverpool have been in regular contact with PSG this week over Barcola, holding what are described as consistent, ongoing talks as they look to add a high-ceiling wide forward to Arne Slot’s squad. The Merseysiders have long admired the 21-year-old and appear ready to exploit the shift in Paris.

For now, there is still a sizeable gap in valuation. PSG are understood to be holding out for around £145m, a figure Liverpool will not entertain. Internally, the Anfield hierarchy are thought to value Barcola closer to £100m, and any deal will depend on both clubs edging towards a compromise.

The sense around the situation is that PSG’s double move for Godts and Torres could soften their stance. With their attacking targets secured – barring any late collapse in negotiations – the French champions may need to move on at least one asset to balance the books and streamline the squad. There is another name in the background too. Ibrahim Mbaye, the 18-year-old talent at PSG, has also attracted admiring glances. Any move there would be separate and far less advanced, but his emergence only underlines the congestion in PSG’s attacking ranks and the club’s need to make space.

For Liverpool, the equation is simple. If they can turn PSG’s spending spree into an opportunity, land Barcola at a palatable price, and accelerate the rest of their business before the window shuts in September, the frustration of a disrupted pre-season will quickly fade.
