Newcastle United Invests in Toure Following Tonali Windfall

Newcastle United are wasting no time reinvesting the Sandro Tonali windfall, closing in on a big-money move for Hoffenheim winger Bazoumana Toure as they brace for life after Anthony Gordon.

According to The Telegraph, the clubs have agreed a €50m (£42.8m) package, with Toure set to sign a long-term deal and undergo a medical this week. It is a statement of intent from the Magpies: lose one explosive wide forward, immediately line up another.

Toure’s arrival would give Eddie Howe a fresh weapon out wide and soften the blow of Gordon’s expected exit, with Newcastle determined not to drift after cashing in on one of their key assets.

United’s midfield rebuild: Scott climbs to the top of the list

At Old Trafford, the midfield jigsaw keeps shifting.

Manchester United missed out on Mateus Fernandes to Tottenham, but the hunt has hardly slowed. Aurelien Tchouameni remains the headline target, yet he is no longer alone on the shortlist.

As reported by The Daily Mail, Alex Scott, Tyler Adams and Felix Nmecha are all under serious consideration, with Scott emerging as the preferred option. United’s hierarchy are said to be strong admirers of the Bournemouth midfielder, whose blend of technical quality and Premier League experience fits the profile they want at the heart of Erik ten Hag’s team.

They are not alone. Arsenal are also tracking the 22-year-old, and the price is climbing. The original £60m valuation has been pushed upwards on the back of major midfield moves for Fernandes, Tonali and Elliot Anderson, with the market now firmly inflated. Any club wanting Scott will have to pay for potential as well as proven promise.

Camavinga talks put Tchouameni chase at risk

United’s pursuit of Tchouameni faces a fresh complication from an unexpected angle.

Real Madrid and Manchester City have held direct talks over Eduardo Camavinga in recent hours, according to MARCA, with City “evaluating the possibility of incorporating” the 23-year-old into Enzo Maresca’s squad. After agreeing a deal for Anderson, City still want another midfield signing, and Camavinga sits at the centre of that plan.

The Frenchman’s preference is clear: he wants to stay in Madrid and prove his worth. But if he changes his stance and heads to the Etihad, the domino effect could be brutal for United. With Camavinga gone, Real would be under no pressure to cash in on Tchouameni, making a switch to Old Trafford highly unlikely. One move at the top end of the market could shut a door United have been trying to prise open for months.

Barcola in demand as Arsenal and Liverpool circle

On the wings, another French talent is attracting a crowd.

Bradley Barcola is wanted by Arsenal and Liverpool, while Paris Saint-Germain are also keen to keep him despite their own plans to bring in more attacking options. PSG are not ready to lose a player they still see as part of their long-term front line.

Liverpool have turned to Barcola after Yan Diomande chose PSG as his preferred destination if he leaves RB Leipzig this summer. With Ivory Coast now out of the World Cup, Diomande’s future is expected to be resolved soon, and that decision has pushed Barcola up Liverpool’s list.

Arsenal view the PSG forward as an alternative to Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. Barcola did his prospects no harm earlier this week, scoring a superb goal for France against Sweden – a timely reminder of his sharpness just as the market closes in around him.

Chelsea rebuffed in Chavarria chase

Chelsea, meanwhile, have run into a wall in Spain.

Rayo Vallecano have rejected an offer from the west London club for Pep Chavarria, according to Spanish radio station El Partidazo de COPE. The La Liga side are not just saying no; they are reportedly considering reporting Chelsea to FIFA.

Club president Martin Presa is refusing to negotiate, pointing to Chavarria’s €50m (£42.3m) release clause and insisting there have been no talks with Chelsea. If the Blues want the defender, they may have to decide whether to walk away or go all in and trigger the clause in full.

Tottenham’s £223.5m week reshapes the market

Few clubs have shaken the window quite like Tottenham this week.

Spurs have agreed two major signings and one marquee sale worth a guaranteed £223.5m, a sequence of deals that has reshaped both their own squad and the wider Premier League market.

The first move was an £85m agreement with West Ham United for Mateus Fernandes, a powerful statement in itself. Then came a significant outgoing: Luka Vuskovic to Brighton in a £50m deal, with £46m up front and another £4m in add-ons.

That sale unlocked the next step. With fresh funds in hand, Tottenham were able to meet Newcastle’s £100m asking price for Sandro Tonali. The structure is heavy: £92.5m guaranteed, with a further £7.5m tied to Champions League bonuses. For Ange Postecoglou, it delivers a commanding presence in midfield. For the rest of the league, it raises the bar again on what it costs to compete at the top.

From Toure on Tyneside to Tonali in north London, the market is moving fast. The question now is who blinks next.
