Mykhailo Mudryk Cleared to Return to Football After Doping Ban

Mykhailo Mudryk has been cleared to play competitive football again after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) partially upheld his appeal against a four-year doping ban.

The Chelsea winger, 25, has been sidelined since November 2024. A month later he was provisionally suspended by the Football Association after an “adverse finding” for meldonium, a prohibited substance, triggered an investigation and, ultimately, the harshest punishment available under the rules.

The FA handed Mudryk the maximum four-year sanction, a decision that threatened to wipe out a crucial stretch of his career and cast a long shadow over his time at Stamford Bridge and with the Ukraine national team.

Mudryk took his case to CAS. The verdict has now dramatically changed the picture.

CAS confirmed that the player accepted he had breached anti-doping regulations, but the court ruled that the suspension already served is sufficient. In practical terms, that means Mudryk’s ban is deemed to have been completed and he is free to return to competition “with immediate effect”.

From a four-year exile to an instant green light, the legal battle has flipped the trajectory of a player whose Chelsea career has been defined as much by scrutiny as by flashes of raw talent.
