Juventus Sign Guglielmo Vicario on Long-Term Loan from Spurs

Juventus have their new goalkeeper – and it’s a familiar face to Serie A. On Tuesday, the club confirmed the arrival of Guglielmo Vicario from Tottenham, a move designed to anchor the next phase of their rebuild.

The deal, announced on Juventus’ official channels, is a loan running all the way until 30 June 2027, giving the Bianconeri rare long-term security in such an important position.

According to French outlet Foot Mercato, the agreement includes an option to buy set at 10 million euros including bonuses, a figure that could look shrewd if Vicario settles quickly in Turin.

From Udinese’s academy to a European trophy

Born in 1996, Vicario learned his trade in the Udinese youth system before carving out his path the hard way. Venezia, Perugia, Cagliari, Empoli – each stop added another layer to his game, and it was at Empoli that he truly announced himself, amassing 69 Serie A appearances and earning a reputation as one of the league’s most reliable shot-stoppers.

Tottenham moved for him in 2023. In London, Vicario didn’t just hold his own, he thrived: 117 matches in all competitions and a Europa League title in the 2024/25 season, a landmark moment in his career and for the club.

Now comes Turin. A different pressure. A different expectation.

Not the first name on the list – but the one that arrived

Juventus’ search for a new No. 1 took a few twists. Reports in recent weeks linked the club with Argentina international Emiliano Martinez and Japanese goalkeeper Zion Suzuki as they scoured the market for the right profile.

Those pursuits faded. Vicario remained. In the end, the Italian returns to his home league with the weight of a major club on his shoulders and the chance to become the long-term guardian of the Juventus goal.
