Jadon Sancho Weighs Move Abroad Amid Premier League Interest

Jadon Sancho is leaning towards a move abroad as he weighs up his next step, despite concrete interest from Premier League clubs.

The 26-year-old remains a free agent six weeks after his Manchester United contract expired and is in no rush to make a decision, with his camp assessing offers from across Europe. A return to Borussia Dortmund, where he made 158 appearances over two spells and produced the best football of his career, is among the possibilities on the table.

Sancho, signed by United from Dortmund in 2021 for £73m, is understood to favour a fresh start outside England but has not ruled out any option at this stage.

His recent club career has been turbulent. He spent last season on loan at Aston Villa, playing 39 times as Unai Emery’s side secured Champions League qualification and lifted the Europa League. Sancho featured as a late substitute in the victory over Freiburg, his third European final in as many seasons.

The England attacker also spent the 2024-25 campaign on loan at Chelsea, where he made 41 appearances. That deal contained an obligation-to-buy clause, yet Chelsea chose to pay a £5m penalty to send him back to Manchester United rather than make the move permanent.

With pre-season under way and the new campaign approaching, Sancho has been training with non-league side Flixton to keep himself sharp. The next contract he signs will define the prime years of his career. The only question now is which club is prepared to bet on unlocking the Dortmund version of Jadon Sancho again.
