Inter Milan Targets Curtis Jones: Liverpool Midfielder's Future in Question

Inter Milan are readying a fresh move for Curtis Jones, with the Liverpool midfielder increasingly pushing towards the Anfield exit door this month.

The 25-year-old’s future has rumbled on all summer. Inter have already seen an opening bid of £21.7m knocked back, with Liverpool initially holding out for around £34m, according to The Athletic. The Serie A champions, though, have never taken their eyes off him.

Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano has repeatedly described Jones as a “priority” target for Inter and reported on his YouTube channel that Liverpool could soften their stance to around €35m (£30m). That shift alone tells its own story.

On Sunday, the narrative sharpened.

Omission that speaks volumes

Liverpool played two matches against Como, using 24 different players. Another six made the bench without getting on the pitch. Jones was nowhere to be seen in either squad.

Not starting is one thing. Not even being named among 30 players is something else entirely.

Head coach Andoni Iraola has previously said the midfielder has been dealing with a minor hip problem, as reported by The Standard. Even so, leaving him completely out of both matchday groups will only crank up the speculation that a move is edging closer.

Romano then added fuel to that fire with an update on X, stating that Inter “remain keen on the English midfielder with new bid anticipated, deal depends on club-to-club talks as player wants the move.”

That last part is crucial. Jones wants the move.

Inter sense their moment

Put all the pieces together: a reduced asking price, a player keen to go, a club that has already tested the water and is ready to come back in. Inter can smell opportunity.

Liverpool’s stance has shifted from outright rejection to negotiation. Inter, already convinced he fits their plans, will feel emboldened to return with an improved offer they believe can finally drag the deal over the line.

For Liverpool, this is not just a numbers game. Jones is a Toxteth-born academy graduate, the last Scouser in the current first-team group. Losing him would sting emotionally as much as technically.

But the direction of travel is hard to ignore. A lowered valuation. A conspicuous omission. A player open to a new chapter at San Siro. The tide is rolling one way.

The only real question now is not whether Inter come back, but how quickly they move to close in on a midfielder they increasingly look confident of making their own.
