Holywell Battle Back for First Point as Clarke Shines for Caernarfon

Holywell Town finally have something to show for their efforts. It took a comeback, a late strike and a nervous finish, but their first point of the season arrived at home against fellow promoted side Trefelin.

They had to suffer for it.

Trefelin, still chasing a first win in the top flight, struck first on the hour. Louis Phillips spotted his moment, lifting a superb lob from the edge of the box that dropped perfectly over the keeper. One touch, one flash of quality, and Holywell were staring at another bleak afternoon.

The response came late but carried real relief. With eight minutes left, Harvey Morris found the breakthrough to drag Holywell level and salvage a point. It stopped the rot, but not the reality: they remain rooted to the bottom of the table.

Clarke punishes former club as Caernarfon climb

Higher up the division, Caernarfon Town made far lighter work of their task. Flint Town United, still searching for any kind of foothold this season, were brushed aside 3-0 as Zack Clarke continued his ruthless start to the campaign.

Clarke, once of Flint, made his old club pay in first-half stoppage time, opening the scoring to take control of the contest. Seven minutes after the restart he struck again, pushing his season’s tally to nine and underlining why Caernarfon sit in the top four.

The pressure did not ease. Osian Evans, in sharp scoring form himself, added a third to complete a dominant night for Caernarfon and leave Flint winless and marooned in 15th.

Wingmakers soar at Old Road

At Old Road, Airbus made their moments count.

George Peers continued his own hot streak, grabbing his third goal in as many games. On 20 minutes he arrived in the right place at the right time, finishing from close range after a precise cross from Jordan Evans to give the visitors control.

Any hope of a home fightback disappeared just after the interval. Airbus broke at speed on the counter and Oliver Calland, still waiting for his first goal for the Wingmakers, chose his moment well. His finish pushed the lead out to two and tightened Airbus’ grip on the points.

Cambrian claw back at Cyncoed

In Cardiff, the drama came in waves.

Cardiff Met looked comfortable by half-time at Cyncoed. Spencer Dymond-Hall’s header in first-half stoppage time nudged the hosts in front, and when Sam Jones doubled the lead early in the second half, it felt like a routine home win was on the way.

Cambrian United refused to accept the script. Seven minutes after falling 2-0 behind, Alex John pulled one back to change the mood and the tempo. Suddenly, every loose ball mattered.

The pressure told again. Liam Williams’ side drew level through Harrison Bright, who drove in a strike from the edge of the area to complete the comeback and silence the home crowd.

Cardiff Met still had one final chance to rip the points back. CJ Craven stepped up from the spot, but missed the penalty, leaving Cambrian’s fightback intact and the home side to reflect on what slipped away.

On a night of late twists and sharp finishes, some clubs found lifelines, others found lift-off. For those still stuck at the bottom, the question now is how long they can wait before performances have to turn into wins.
