Harry Kane Set to Snub Manchester United for Bayern Deal

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s dream of seeing Harry Kane walk out at Old Trafford in a red shirt is fading fast.

Manchester United’s new powerbroker has made no secret, privately at least, of his admiration for the England captain. Sources insist Ratcliffe would love to build United’s attack around Kane and that the club are ready to explore a deal should any opening appear. With Kane’s current Bayern Munich contract running out at the end of the season, the scenario looked tempting.

But the door is closing.

Bayern move to lock Kane down

Back on August 10, TEAMtalk’s transfer insider Graeme Bailey revealed that United were among the clubs keeping a close eye on Kane’s situation. The logic was obvious: a proven, world-class No 9, out of contract next summer, with a Premier League record still within reach. For United, it looked like a rare chance to land the finished article.

Kane, though, has never pushed for the exit.

Bailey reported at the time that the former Tottenham Hotspur striker wanted to stay at Bayern. That stance has not shifted, and Bayern have responded in kind. The German champions are prepared to offer the 33-year-old a new three-year deal, a contract that would carry him well beyond 2026 and through the final prime years of his career.

Now the timeline is sharpening.

Reports in Germany say Bayern plan to make an announcement on Kane’s future next month, accelerating the process and effectively forcing any lingering admirers to accept reality.

‘Relax’ – Bayern confident over Kane

Bild journalist Christian Falk, speaking on his CFBayernInsider platform, lifted the curtain on the mood inside the club during the Sport Bild Awards, where Kane was named their “football star of the year”.

Kane joined the ceremony via Zoom, while his father Pat represented him in person at the Fischauktionshalle in Hamburg. Behind the scenes, Falk sounded out Bayern president Herbert Hainer on the contract situation.

The message was calm. Almost casual.

According to Falk, the feeling within Bayern’s hierarchy is to “relax”; they see a new agreement with Kane as a matter of time rather than a negotiation on a knife-edge. There are still details to iron out, questions to clear up in the talks, but the confidence is clear. They expect it to get done.

Falk went further, predicting a contract announcement within the next month – and certainly before the end of this calendar year. He is “really sure” Kane will sign an extension that runs beyond 2026.

If that happens, the implications are brutal for the chasing pack.

United’s long pursuit hits a dead end

Once Kane commits, he is effectively off the market for a long stretch. No cut-price move. No late-career Premier League homecoming. No marquee Ratcliffe-era statement signing.

United, long linked with Kane during his Tottenham days and again since his move to Germany, are being told to give up the chase. Falk even signed off with a pointed apology to the club’s fanbase and decision-makers: “Sorry again to his long-time admirers, Manchester United!”

For Ratcliffe and United, the message is stark. If they want a new superstar No 9, they will have to find him somewhere other than Munich.
