Hannah Hampton Secures Golden Glove Again
Hannah Hampton has turned goalkeeping excellence into a habit, and now the records are starting to show it.
The Chelsea and England No 1 has claimed the Golden Glove once again, finishing the league campaign with eight clean sheets – the standout figure in the division. One of those shutouts came in last weekend’s narrow 1-0 win over Manchester United at Stamford Bridge, a match that underlined both her quality and her commitment to the team.
That game produced one of the season’s more unusual Golden Glove subplots. Deep into stoppage time, with Chelsea clinging to their lead, Hampton took the decision to substitute herself after feeling unwell. She walked off knowing the clean sheet – and potentially the award – might go with her. The priority was clear: protect the result, even if it meant sacrificing an individual prize.
The question lingered in the aftermath: would she still be credited with the shutout? Confirmation has now arrived. She keeps the clean sheet, and with it the Golden Glove.
This is not just another trophy on the shelf. Hampton has now won the award in back-to-back seasons, having shared it last year with Manchester United’s Phallon Tullis-Joyce. No goalkeeper had previously managed consecutive Golden Gloves. She stands alone in that regard.
Her domestic dominance comes on the back of a glittering spell on the international and global stage. Hampton arrived into this league campaign fresh from winning Women’s Euro 2025 with England, carrying the authority of a major tournament champion. A few months later, in September, she became the inaugural winner of the Women’s Yashin Trophy at the Ballon d’Or – formal recognition that her performances rank with the very best in the world.
From European glory to the first Women’s Yashin Trophy and now another Golden Glove, Hampton is not just in form; she is building a legacy.
