Gennaro Gattuso has moved decisively to shut down speculation over a move for Mauro Icardi, insisting his club will stand by the attackers they have already brought in.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the coach addressed the persistent rumours linking his side with the former Inter captain and made it clear the chapter is closed.

“Let’s put this whole Icardi mess to rest,” Gattuso said, as reported by Calciomercato.com. “He has scored 250 goals in his career, and nobody questions his value. We made our choices; we signed [Andrea] Pinamonti and [Albert] Gudmundsson, and when you give your word to players, you can’t go back on it.”
