Ethan Nwaneri Likely to Leave Arsenal Before Transfer Window Closes

Ethan Nwaneri is expected to leave Arsenal before the end of the summer transfer window, with some of Europe’s sharpest talent-spotters circling around the teenager.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano reports that the 19-year-old is likely to move on, as his pathway to regular first-team football in north London remains blocked. Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, two clubs with a clear track record of developing young attacking talent, have both been linked with Nwaneri, while AC Milan are also understood to be closely monitoring his situation.

The latest hint came at Wembley. Nwaneri was nowhere to be seen in Arsenal’s matchday squad for the 3-0 Community Shield win over Manchester City on Sunday, a notable omission for a player previously heralded as one of the club’s brightest prospects.

Before kick-off, Mikel Arteta did little to play down the possibility of a departure. The Arsenal head coach made it clear that the decision will hinge on guaranteed minutes, not sentiment.

“I want him to be at the club, but in the middle, long term, what is best for the player? Ethan needs to play football, and if he stays here, it's because we can guarantee that he can have those minutes. Otherwise, it's just something that is not good for anybody, I think,” Arteta said.

The message was blunt. Arsenal want to keep him, but not at the cost of his development. The clock on the window is ticking, and so is Nwaneri’s need for a stage big enough to match his reputation.
