Eli Junior Kroupi Nominated for Men’s Young Talent of the Year

Eli Junior Kroupi’s rise has been paused, not stopped.

The Bournemouth forward has been shortlisted for the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award ahead of the 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony, recognition of a breakout season that turned heads across the Premier League before injury cut his momentum.

At just 20, Kroupi is one of three Premier League players in a 10-man shortlist, joining Manchester City’s Ayyoub Bouaddi and Aston Villa’s Johan Manzambi in the race for the award. It is elite company, and a sharp reminder of how quickly the Frenchman has forced his way into the conversation.

Kroupi only made his Bournemouth debut in August 2025. From there, he barely looked back. Thirty-five appearances. Thirteen goals. All competitions. For a first campaign in England, the numbers were not just promising – they were historic.

By the end of the 2025-26 season, he had scored more goals than any other teenager in their debut Premier League campaign. In a league that chews up young forwards, Kroupi found a way to thrive, giving Bournemouth a cutting edge and offering a glimpse of a future built around him.

The story since then has been more brutal. A foot injury in pre-season, surgery, and a long spell on the sidelines mean he has yet to feature this season. The club expect him back in October or November, a timeline that tests his patience while the individual accolades roll in from last year’s work.

The Men’s Young Talent of the Year trophy will be one of the honours handed out at the 70th Ballon d’Or ceremony in London on Monday, 26 October. Whether Kroupi lifts it or not, his name is already on the marquee.
