Como reshuffles squad: Morata leaves, Ricci joins

Como are ripping through the final days of the transfer window with the urgency of a club that has just seen its Champions League path laid out.

Departures

The first big move is official: Alvaro Morata has left. The Spanish striker joins Leganes on loan, with an option to buy at the end of the season, trimming a major name from the Lariani’s attacking department and freeing space on the wage bill.

The exits don’t stop there. Ignace Van der Brempt is on his way to Sassuolo, with multiple Italian outlets, including Sky Sport Italia and Sportitalia, reporting that an agreement is in place. The Belgian full-back will move on loan with an obligation to buy, a deal structured at a total of €6.5m.

Sassuolo had also been in the race for Hellas Verona winger Rafik Belghali, but the wide man is now understood to be leaning towards Torino, pushing the Neroverdi to close on Van der Brempt instead.

Arrivals

While Como streamline the squad, they are not just cutting — they are recalibrating. Milan midfielder Samuele Ricci arrived today to undergo his medical, the key step before sealing his move to the lakeside club.

The deal is set up as a loan worth €1.5m, with an option to buy at the end of the season for a further €22m plus performance-related bonuses. It’s a sizeable potential outlay for a player Milan themselves treated as a major investment: Ricci joined the Rossoneri from Torino last summer for €23m plus bonuses.

His year in red and black never fully caught fire. Ricci made only 34 appearances in all competitions, scoring once, and struggled to secure an undisputed starting role in a crowded Milan midfield.

Now he gets a reset in Como colours, while the club marches into Europe with a leaner, more tailored squad and a clear statement: no sentiment, no hesitation, just hard choices for a season that suddenly looks much bigger.
