Como Push for Trevoh Chalobah as Chelsea Reshapes Defence

Como have come back to the table for Trevoh Chalobah, and this time the offer has real weight behind it.

On Friday, reports detailed a fresh bid from the ambitious Serie A club to Chelsea: €25m guaranteed, with a further €5m in bonuses that are described as easily achievable. A package that would take the total fee to €30m for a player who, not long ago, was being talked about as part of Chelsea’s long-term core.

The pressure on Chelsea to decide is growing. So is the pull on the player.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Chalobah is keen on the move to Como, a project driven in part by Cesc Fabregas on the touchline and by the lure of Champions League football off it. Calciomercato.com add that an agreement in principle on personal terms is already in place, removing one of the usual hurdles in deals of this size.

This is not the first time Chalobah’s name has been tied to Serie A. Inter were also linked earlier in the window, sensing an opportunity as Chelsea’s squad continues to churn. But as the weeks have passed, Como have stepped out in front, turning interest into concrete numbers.

The timing is no coincidence.

Chelsea have struck a deal worth around €60m (£52m) for Crystal Palace centre-back Maxence Lacroix, a move that only tightens the squeeze on Chalobah’s minutes in West London. With another high-value defender arriving, the academy product risks sliding further down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge.

The sporting contrast between the two clubs is stark. Chelsea, who finished the 2025-26 Premier League season in 10th, will not play in Europe next term. Como, by contrast, can put Champions League nights on the table. For a 25-year-old defender entering what should be his prime years, that difference matters.

Chelsea must now weigh up a substantial offer, a willing player, and a defensive reshuffle already in motion. Como, armed with European football and a clear plan, are waiting for their answer.
