Milan, Napoli and Bournemouth circle as Embolo emerges as key market target

Breel Embolo has become the latest name on Milan’s attacking shortlist, and he is walking straight into a three-way tug of war.

The Switzerland international, currently at Rennes, has been identified as a serious option for Rúben Amorim’s frontline. As reported by calciomercato.com, Milan have already opened talks with the player’s agent to understand the margins of a deal: how much, on what terms, and how quickly it could be done.

No call has gone in to Rennes yet. That is the next step, and it will not be a cheap one. The Ligue 1 club value Embolo at around €15m and have him tied down until 2029, a strong contract that gives them control of the situation.

The forward’s stance, though, changes the dynamic. Embolo, one of the standouts at the recent World Cup, has already made it clear he is open to returning to Italy. That alone is enough to sharpen interest across Serie A.

Milan and Napoli wait on exits

He will not be short of suitors.

Napoli, now under Massimiliano Allegri, also have Embolo on their list. Bournemouth are tracking him as well, and the Premier League is understood to be a destination the striker would welcome. His name has carried weight in Italy for some time, with Juventus and Roma among the clubs to have followed him in previous windows.

The obstacle for the two Italian contenders is not desire. It is space.

Milan are still waiting for a proposal they consider acceptable for Rafael Leão. The club want €50m for the Portuguese forward and, until that figure is met, they are under no pressure to sell or to rush into a replacement.

Napoli, on the other hand, are working in a different lane. Sporting director Giovanni Manna is focused on finding a new club for Romelu Lukaku, whose future remains the key to unlocking their own attacking rebuild. Until Lukaku moves, their pursuit of another striker stays in holding pattern.

An alternative trigger at San Siro

Milan do have another possible trigger for an Embolo move.

Santiago Giménez is among the players who could leave, and his departure would change the internal calculations. If an offer arrives and the Mexican striker goes, the Rossoneri could push for Embolo regardless of what happens with Leão.

For now, it is still early. Initial conversations, exploratory calls, valuations exchanged but not yet tested by formal bids.

Once one major forward moves, though, the market tends to move with him. Embolo sits right in the middle of that waiting game, a striker with options, a club with a price, and three suitors poised for the moment the first domino finally falls.
