According to journalist Achraf Ben Ayad, the Spain captain will now undergo his medical tests in Catalonia on Tuesday morning, 18 August. He is expected to land in Barcelona later this evening, rest, and then head straight into the medical examinations first thing tomorrow.

If all goes as expected, the next steps are clear: medicals, contract signing, and then the official announcement that Barcelona have secured one of the most influential midfielders in world football.
