Benoit Badiashile Joins Napoli on Loan from Chelsea

“Napoli announced that it has acquired the sporting rights to the player Benoit Badiashile from Chelsea on a temporary basis with a permanent option,” read the club’s official statement, laying out the framework of the agreement.

The structure of the move is straightforward but significant. According to Sky Sport transfer specialist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli will pay a €3 million loan fee for the season, with an option to make the transfer permanent for €20 million next summer.

Some reports in Italy have suggested a higher figure, with claims the buy option could reach €27 million once add-ons and bonuses are included. Badiashile arrived in England as one of Europe’s most highly rated young defenders after his rise at Monaco, where he clocked up 135 competitive games in Ligue 1 and Europe. Chelsea saw enough to invest heavily, and he went on to feature 42 times in the Premier League for the club.

Now, he becomes the latest big name to walk out of Stamford Bridge this summer. Marc Cucurella has gone to Real Madrid, Andrey Santos to Manchester United, and Trevoh Chalobah to Como. Badiashile joins that exodus, swapping west London for southern Italy and a club eager to rearm for a new campaign.

For Napoli, this is no minor tweak. The French international is their second major first-team signing of the window, following the arrival of Costantino Favasuli from US Catanzaro earlier in the week.
