Arsenal Sign Andria Bartishvili for 2027 as Liverpool Miss Out
Arsenal have beaten Liverpool to the signing of one of Europe’s most talked-about teenagers – and they won’t see him in red and white for another three years.
Arsenal plan for 2027 as Liverpool miss out
While the last few days have seen a clear-out of attacking options at the Emirates, the champions are already locking in the next generation.
Ethan Nwaneri has gone to Borussia Dortmund on loan. Gabriel Jesus has joined Barcelona in a £12m deal including add-ons. Gabriel Martinelli has departed for Al-Hilal in a £60m move. Fabio Vieira has left for Hamburg at £8.6m. Four forwards out, none in for the immediate term.
Yet Mikel Arteta’s squad still looks stacked. Deep, balanced, and built to compete on every front. Rival managers might glance at Liverpool’s starting XI and pick out a handful of players who would walk into Arsenal’s team, but the overall depth is nowhere near the same level at Anfield. Few genuinely see the Reds as title contenders right now.
Arsenal, though, are building for now and for what comes next. Ezri Konsa and Bruno Guimaraes, both 28, have arrived to strengthen the present. The recruitment department hasn’t taken its eye off the horizon either.
The battle for Bartishvili
That long-term thinking has just delivered a win over Liverpool in the market.
Both clubs pushed hard over the summer for Andria Bartishvili, the 17-year-old Georgian attacking midfielder widely regarded as a standout talent of his age group. Liverpool went as far as putting a contract offer on the table.
It wasn’t enough.
On August 29, Fabrizio Romano announced his trademark “here we go” for Bartishvili to Arsenal, confirming that the Premier League champions had struck an agreement.
Romano wrote on X that Arsenal had agreed a deal to sign the 17-year-old, with a medical booked in London and a five-year contract ready to be signed. The fee is worth €4.5m, with Bartishvili joining from 2027 when he turns 18.
The teenager then began his journey to the capital to complete the move. Romano reported that Bartishvili was travelling to London, with the agreement in place for him to join Arsenal from June 2027, once he is eligible.
Deal done – but the wait begins
On Friday morning came the final piece.
Romano stated that “Georgian talent Andria Bartishvili can be considered a new Arsenal player,” confirming that the medical has been completed, the contract is set to be signed and the deal is “formally sealed”.
The plan is clear: Bartishvili will join Arsenal’s first team in the summer of 2027, when he turns 18.
Arsenal already have a squad capable of dominating the present. Now they’ve taken a prized target off Liverpool’s table for the future.
