2026/27 Women's Football Season Schedule: Key Dates and Events

The 2025/26 season is in the books. The next one is already mapped out.

Here are the dates that will shape a campaign stretching from late summer kick-off to a World Cup summer.

Pre-season: Opponents to be confirmed

For now, pre-season is a blank canvas. Friendly fixtures and ticket details are still to be announced, with the club set to confirm dates and rivals closer to the time via their X, Instagram and Facebook channels.

The summer schedule will set the tone. The diary, though, starts to fill quickly after that.

Transfer window: Deals from mid-June to early September

The summer transfer window opens on Thursday, June 18. From that moment, business is live.

Clubs can buy and sell players right through to Deadline Day on Thursday, September 3, a window that will frame squad rebuilds, late scrambles and everything in between.

2026/27 Women’s Super League: From early September to late May

Full Women’s Super League fixtures drop in the week commencing Monday, July 27. That’s when the route through the domestic season becomes clear.

The opening weekend is locked in: the campaign kicks off between Friday, September 4 and Sunday, September 6. The final round of league matches is set for Saturday, May 22, when the table will tell its truth.

Champions League: League phase from late September

Second place in last season’s WSL brings automatic entry into the league phase of the Champions League. No qualifiers. Straight into the main field.

The draw takes place on Friday, September 4, when six league phase opponents will be revealed.

The schedule is tight and relentless:

  • League phase starts on Tuesday, September 22
  • Further league phase matchdays:
    • September 30–October 1
    • October 28–29
    • November 10–11
    • November 18–19
  • Final league phase game: Wednesday, December 16

The knockout picture then takes shape. The draw for the play-offs and quarter-finals is set for Friday, December 18.

If involved, the knockout play-off ties will fall on:

  • First leg: Wednesday, February 3 or Thursday, February 4
  • Second leg: Wednesday, February 10 or Thursday, February 11

Quarter-finals follow:

  • First leg: Tuesday, March 23 or Wednesday, March 24
  • Second leg: Wednesday, March 31 or Thursday, April 1

The semi-finals are staged on back-to-back Saturdays:

  • First leg: Saturday, May 1
  • Second leg: Saturday, May 8

Everything then funnels towards one night: the Champions League final on Saturday, May 29, at Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw.

Adobe Women’s FA Cup: Wembley on the horizon

The road to Wembley starts in the round of 32.

The club enters the Adobe Women’s FA Cup on the weekend of Saturday, January 16. The pattern of the competition builds quickly:

  • Round of 16: weekend of Saturday, February 20 and Sunday, February 21
  • Quarter-finals: Saturday, March 20 or Sunday, March 21
  • Semi-finals: Saturday, April 10 or Sunday, April 11

The final will be played under the arch at Wembley Stadium on either Saturday, May 15 or Sunday, May 16, a domestic showpiece dropped right into the heart of the run-in.

International and winter breaks: Breathers in a crowded calendar

The calendar is busy, but there are pauses – some brief, some badly needed.

The international breaks for 2026/27 are set as follows:

  • First break: Monday, October 5 to Tuesday, October 13
  • Second break: Tuesday, December 1 to Saturday, December 5

Between those, the squad will also down tools for a winter break from Monday, December 21 through to Sunday, January 3. A rare reset in a season that rarely slows.

In 2027, the international windows ramp up again:

  • Third break: Wednesday, February 24 to Saturday, March 6
  • Fourth break: Tuesday, April 13 to Saturday, April 24

Then comes the final pause, after the domestic season has finished:

  • Fifth break: from Monday, June 7, 2027 onwards

That last one carries extra weight. Many players will pivot straight into preparations for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, which runs from Thursday, June 24 to Sunday, July 25.

By then, the club’s season will be long decided. The question now is simple: with the roadmap laid out this clearly, how far can this team travel along it?
